Young, black, and broke with a BFA from a high-priced NYC art school I set out to make a career as a designer only to have art directors slam doors in my face because they didn't know my work. After a few years of dead-end retail jobs decided to add to my insecurity by pursuing jobs as an actor/singer. After the job market took a dive suddenly I'm living back home with my folks and working as a temp while working as a male escort. Clearly I'm never going to have a normal life. Read on...

Thank you for being a friend... now get lost!
The other day I decided to call my sometime girl friend, Crystal, for support after two days of silence from my pouting BF. I explained my intentions to her. So after explaining my plans to Crystal she started saying "that's illegal" to the idea of working a job off the books. " Well, tell that to the millions of undocumented workers here in this country, " I retorted. I was applying for a job to supplement my meager income and I was hoping it would be off the books so my earnings wouldn't be going to Uncle Sam. The same Uncle Sam who has no problem bailing out big ass corporations with 700 billion of our hard-earned tax dollars. That's the problem with this government, no respect for the people who it governs. Yeah, I realize that the state of the economy affects everyone but for once I feel like those well-off people who drive around in their mercedes-benz and walk around in their $800 suits downtown now know what us working class people go through. The fact that daily execs and yupsters fear losing their shirts if their investments tank fills me with a sense of schadenfruende. After hanging up with Crystal I finally realized she was just a spoiled southern middle-class hick who is used to her daddy taking care of her even if that means paying her rent for her well into her 20's. I immediately deleted her name and number from my phone.
